MADELINE THERESE DUFAULT
ST. ALBANS BAY
11/19/2009
Madeline Therese Dufault, 66, of St. Albans Bay, passed away at her home Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009, with her family at her side, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Ste. Christine, Quebec, on April 21, 1943. She married Andre H. Dufault on May 5, 1962, in Louisville, Ky. She is survived by her husband, Andre, of 47 years of St. Albans Bay; their son, Andre Dufault Jr. “Garc” and his companion, Juanita Trombley, of St. Albans; and their daughter, Lisa Dufault and her companion, Ted Wright, of St. Albans.
In 1952, her parents moved the family from Ste. Christine, Quebec to a dairy farm in Hyde Park, where she attended Lamoille Central Academy. In her life she worked at various factories. She was a Tupperware sales manager, waitress at the Cornerstone Restaurant, receptionist at Hungerford VW, bookkeeper and secretary for her husband’s business, St. Albans Building Contractors, Inc. Also bookkeeper, secretary and Road commissioner for Shantee Point Properties.
Also surviving are her five sisters and one brother: Denise Audet of Danielson, Conn., Gisele Poulin of Barefoot Bay, Fla., Judy Dufault and her husband, Robert, of St. Albans Bay, Diane LeRoux and her husband, Lenny, of Newbury, N.H., Rene Loranger and his wife, Lillian, of Rio Rancho, N.M., Francine Giroux and her husband, Raymond, of West Addison. She will be dearly missed by her two god children, Bryan Giroux and Parker Lambert; her nieces and nephews: Suzanne Michaud, Joanne Post, Donald Lambert Jr., Renee Dollwet, Lori Sandshaw, Julie Slayton, Angela Fox, Bryan Giroux, Ilana Callahan, Camille Loranger, Mark Dufault, Chantale Dufault, Milaine “Mimi” Dufault, Marcel Dufault Jr., Natalie Dufault, Victorine Jacques, Sylvine Jacques-Milligan, Edwin Jacques, Pascale Dufault, Francois Dufault and Melissa Dufault-Costegan; also by many great-nieces and nephews and lifelong friends, who were like family: Marielle Hill and trouble maker friend Madeline “Chi Chi” Cantel.
She is predeceased by her parents; the late Ovila and the late Armande (Verrier) Loranger, for whom she cared for in her home from 1985 until their passing; as well as two brothers-in-law, Raymond Audet and Jean Paul Poulin.
Madeline had many joys in her life, especially living on the lake, including fishing and boating in the summer and snowmobiling, cross country skiing and ice fishing in the winter. Year round she enjoyed having her family and friends gathered at her home sharing and enjoying the fruits of her labor from gardening, working with her John Deere tractor, canning and cooking. She was also a loving consultant, advisor and mentor to her many friends and family members. She may not have always been 100% politically correct but she had a heart of gold and you always knew where you stood. Her most cherished joy in life was being a loving wife to her husband and devoted mother to her children.
All are welcome to join us on Monday, Nov. 23, 2009, for a Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. at the Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street in St. Albans with the Reverend Maurice J Roy as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Loranger/Dufault family lot in the St. Albans Point Cemetery. Madeline’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans, and again on Monday from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Those planning expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Franklin County Home Health Agency or the Hospice Program of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

A special thanks to all our friends and neighbors on Samson Road and Shantee Point Road for all their support through this difficult time.
