The former Rail City Salon building at 17 Lake St. begins to fall in a heap during demolition Wednesday morning. The site will serve as an entrance to a parking garage now under construction in the city’s core lot. The building was part of the first St. Albans Academy built in 1851 and was moved to Lake Street in 1860. Much of the structure, however, had been changed over the years. The city purchased the building this year. The salon has moved to a Main Street address.
