SWANTON — Francis Rosary Ste. Marie, age 89 years, died early Friday morning, June 12, 2015, in the Northwestern Medical Center.

Born in Colchester on Oct. 26, 1925, he was the son of the late Leonidas and Lucienne (Bisson) Ste. Marie. He was married to the former Rita LeBlanc who predeceased him on, July 12, 2013 following 65 years of marriage.

A professional meat cutter Mr. Ste. Marie and his wife Rita together owned and operated a store and meat market in East Fairfield and Swanton for many years. They retired to Lake Worth, Fla., and later settled in Lexington, Ky. Following the death of Rita in 2013 he returned to live in Swanton. He was a longtime parishioner of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary/Saint Louis Parish in Swanton and Saint Anthony Parish and Pax Christie in Lexington, Ky.

He faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and The Veterans of Foreign Wars in North Troy.

He was an avid basketball fan especially following the University of Kentucky and the University of Vermont.

Mr. Ste. Marie leaves his two sons, Michael Ste. Marie and Phil and his wife, MaryLou Ste Marie, and daughter, Diane Sainte Marie; six grandchildren, Tracy Ste. Marie and husband, Daniel Yohannes, Christopher and wife, Jamie Ste. Marie, Chad Ste. Marie and Shanna, Chelsie and husband, Christian Novak, Bethany and husband, Daniel Marelich, and Todd Thibault; four great grandchildren, Nico, Zachery, Camryn and Reagan; two brothers and their wives, Edwin and Ruth Ste. Marie and Andy and Gail St. Marie all of North Hero; a sister, Sister Theresa Ste. Marie RSM of Burlington; two sisters-in-law, Norma Ste. Marie and Georgette Routhier a special nephew, Dr. Steven St. Marie as well as several additional nieces nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and his wife Rita, Mr. Ste. Marie was predeceased by two brothers, Gene and Paul Ste. Marie and a sister, Jeannine Cuccaro.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, June 18, 2015, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton. The Reverend Monsignor Peter A. Routhier will be the celebrant and homilist. Full Military Honors will follow.

The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow on Monday, June 22, 2015, at 1:30 p.m. at the Ste. Marie family lot in Saint Vincent DePaul Roman Catholic Cemetery, North Troy.

Friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, from 4 to 7 p.m. Gifts in Mr. Ste. Marie’s memory may be made to the Hi-Swans Senior Citizens
