The Fairfield Center School was host to a pancake breakfast Sunday to raise funds for two local families that lost their homes to fire in January. Proceeds from the event will be split between the Michael and Gabrielle Tiffany and Cedric and Dawn White families, explained Principal Jennifer Wood. At least 525 breakfast meals were served, which exceeded the expected 400 planned, said event organizer Jennifer Fournier. She said the event had 50 volunteers and received donations for food (either food or money for food) from 50 individuals, mostly local farmers. Diners paid $10 for adults, $5 for children or $20 for a family of six. Senior citizens were asked to make a donation. Also, firefighters Fairfield, East Fairfield and Bakersfield departments were given free tickets as thanks for fighting the fires in subzero temperatures Both incidents took place in -13 degree temperatures.
