ST. ALBANS — Mrs. Evelyn E. Giroux, age 98, passed away Oct. 22, 2015 at the Holiday House. She was born in St. Albans, Aug. 23, 1917 daughter of the late Louis and Viola (Wickes) Hemingway. She married Mr. Walter K. Lehmann, who predeceased her. Later she married Gaston Giroux, who predeceased her in 1995. For 22 years she was employed in packaging at the Fonda Container Corp. and later with the Hot Lunch Program at the St. Albans City Elementary School. She enjoyed crocheting, snowmobiling, playing Bingo, and will be remembered for her love of animals. She was a member of the United Paperworkers Union, a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit # 758, and Holy Angels Church.
Evelyn is survived by her children and their spouses, Ronald and Denise Lehmann of Fallon, Nev., Virginia and Robert Rocheleau of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and Allen “Skip” and Darlene Lehmann of Swanton; 13 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; a sister Shirley Ralston of Lansing, Mich.; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents; her husbands; a grandson Cameron Pelitter; her sisters Eleanor Fredette, Helen Cusson, Edna Guimonds, and Irene Hamelin; and her brothers Louis Hemingway, Jr., Kenneth and Charles Hemingway.
A Funeral Service of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2015 at 11 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Giroux family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive condolences from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral, Wednesday.
