BURLINGTON — The Comets accomplished something against Essex in Wednesday night’s championship hockey game that few teams have done this season, scoring twice on the Hornets in the first 20 minutes.

Essex returned the favor and more, though, pulling off an even rarer comeback against BFA-St. Albans. Hornet veterans Kathleen Young and Melanie Theriault cooked up dramatic third-period and overtime goals goals for an improbable 3-2 victory at Gutterson Fieldhouse.
