SWANTON — Ernest P. ‘Ernie’ Choiniere, age 65, died Wednesday evening, May 4, 2016, at his Spring St., home with loving family and friends at his side.
Born in Burlington on Dec. 9, 1950, he was the son of Jacques and Frances (Prouty) Choiniere. He attended St. Anne’s Academy and on July 9, 1994, was married to the former Lorrie Latuch who survives him.
Ernie faithfully served his country in the Vermont Army National Guard stationed at Fort Lenoard Wood, MO, and was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 in St. Albans.
As a master in autobody repair, Ernie and John Chase together owned and operated their own shop for several years. Following the death of his father, Jacques, Ernie assumed the family auto body business until his death. He also drove truck for Cargill / J.B. Hunt and most recently was driving school bus for Terricel Transit.
In addition to his wife Lorrie of Swanton, Ernie leaves his mother, Frances (Prouty) Choiniere); four children, Kristin Choiniere, Kevin Latuch, Frankie Maskell and Chrystal Juaire; eight grandchildren, Marcus and Kimberlynn Latuch, Alex and Carson Maskell, Catherine, Landon and Mason Juaire and Bailey Choiniere; three siblings, Jackie Rabon, Suzanne Choiniere and Albert Choiniere as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousin and many many friends.
A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 12, 2016, at 1 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Luke P. Austin will officiate. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 11, 2016, from, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Father Austin will conduct a vigil service at 8:45 p.m. and remain after for private confessions.
