ENOSBURG FALLS — A total of 44 voters came together at the Enosburg Falls village annual meeting on Tuesday. The proposed budget of $567,790, with $479,526 to be raised by taxes, was approved, and the one non-election item decided by Australian ballot also passed.
Items approved at the annual meeting included $160,000 to be appropriated out of the general, water department, wastewater department and electric department funds for renovations to the village conference facility.
Other articles passed include a $25,000 appropriation on the Grand List for upgrading sidewalks, $125,000 in borrowed funds for a new Public Works Department dump truck, a $36,000 appropriation for an addition to be built on the Public Works Department building, $67,000 appropriation for upgrading water lines and gate valves, as well as $1,000 each for the Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, Christmas lighting and patriotic banners.
There were no races in the village this year. Walter Scott, Guy Breault and Amy Harrness were elected as the village trustees, and Natalie Guilmette was voted in as the town clerk and treasurer.
The only item voted on by Australian ballot aside from elected officials was a $357,000 sum to be financed over the next 15 years for the Water Tower Road repaving project. The ballot item, which was talked about at two informational hearings prior to the Australian ballot vote, passed 40-4.
