ST. ALBANS — Mr. Elphege A. Rocheleau, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully on Monday, Nov. 18, 2013 at the age of 83, after a long illness. He was born in St. Albans, Jan. 20, 1930, son of the late Arthur and Harriet (Nichols) Rocheleau. Elphege attended Holy Angels School. He married Cecile Lapierre, Aug. 4, 1951.
He spent his entire working life as a dairy farmer operating Rocheleau’s Dairy along with his brothers, and was also a well-known and loved bus driver for the St. Albans Town School for 61 years. He was a member of the St. Jean de Baptiste Societe, and a lifelong communicant of Holy Angels Church.
Spending time with his wife, family and friends was the most important thing to Elphege, and also cheering on his favorite team, the Montreal Canadiens.
He is survived by his wife, Cecile Rocheleau, his two children, Diane and her husband, Joseph Dutra, of S. Burlington, Mark and his wife, Louise Rocheleau, of Highgate, two grandchildren Danielle Dutra of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Ashley Dutra of Miami, Fla., a brother Robert and his wife, Virginia “Ginger” Rocheleau, of Plattsburgh, N.Y., and sister Pauline Desjardins, sister in laws Josephine and Rena Rocheleau of St. Albans, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Beatrice Rocheleau, brothers Wilfred and his wife Katherine Rocheleau, Andrew Rocheleau, Phillippe Rocheleau, Maurice and his wife, Lillian Rocheleau, and brother-in-law Laurent Desjardins.
His family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the staff of Our Lady of the Meadows for the loving care he was given during his final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will follow in the Rocheleau family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady and Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main Street, St. Albans, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening.
