PIPERTON, Tenn. — Edward Robert Baker, age 78, went home to be with our Lord on Jan. 1, 2014, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., with loving family at his side.

He was born on Oct. 16, 1935, in Morrisville, Vt., to Zola (Jones) and the late Edward H. Baker.

He graduated from Enosburg High School in 1953. He served his country in the Air Force and on Oct. 9, 1957 he married the love of his life, Joyce Larraine Marshia.

They made their home in Swanton, where they lived for over 40 years. He had a longtime career with Deringer where he worked as a customs broker at the US/Canadian border. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a longtime member of the Church of the Nativity. He enjoyed camping and travel, time spent with friends, family activities, cooking, fishing, golf, wood working and playing cribbage.

In 2008 he moved to Tennessee and made his home in Piperton.

Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Zola; his two sons and their wives, Steve and Judy, and Scott and Lisa; his six precious grandchildren, Christina (her husband, Griffin), Kyle (his fiancé, Desiree), Megan (her husband, Ryan), Kody, Hunter and Mason; and his precious great-grandchild, Kyiah.

He was predeceased by his father, Edward in 1999, his brother-in-law, Henry Marshia in 2010 and his loving wife, Joyce in 2012. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.

A graveside committal service will be held Saturday, April 5 at 3 p.m. at the family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Swanton. A Mass in his memory will be celebrated also on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton. All family and friends are invited to attend.
