FORT MYERS, Fla. — E. Lawrence Bard was born on April 24, 1932 in Reading, Pa., to his parents Edward Martin and Dorothy (Huey) Bard. He passed away on Feb. 18, 2015 in Fort Myers, Fla.

Mr. Bard is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Mrs. Norma Bard; children Judy (Todd) Drew, Susan Donahue, and E. Andrew Bard; grandchildren Kaitlin, Amy, Mia, and Ian Donahue, Christian and Ethan Drew; sister Alison Fanelli; several nieces and nephews; and the father of the Donahue grandchildren Stephen Donahue.

Mr. Bard graduated from University of PA Wharton School of Business. Mr. and Mrs. Bard met in Boston, Mass., and later moved to Wellesley, Mass., where they raised their family. They spent some time in Marshfield, Mass., as well as Bucks County, Pa., and Georgia, Vt., before settling in Fort Myers, Fla.

Mr. Bard had the opportunity to intern with the Prudential Insurance group during his college years and spent his entire 40-year career with the same company. He was one of the original staff with the Prudential Center of Boston. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed giving back to his community by volunteering with his local library and animal shelter. Some of his hobbies included reading, gardening, and traveling. He and Norma especially loved to travel to Ireland, Scotland, England, New Zealand, and the California wine country. In retirement Mr. Bard happily settled into the role of Grandfather. He and Norma frequently traveled to spend time with their grandchildren and hosted family in their homes in Vermont and Florida.
