FRANKLIN — Donald F. Marn, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, Nov. 11, 2013 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

He was born Oct. 30, 1935 in Lansing, Ohio, the son of the late Frank and Anna (Bobak) Marn.

Don moved from Ohio to Vermont in 1964, finally making his home in Franklin in 1975. Don had a dedicated career in education, teaching physics at Vermont Technical College for 22 years and had also taught at the College of Steubenville, University of Vermont, Trinity College, St. Michaels College and Enosburg Falls High School. Besides being an educator Don loved, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family especially while working in the vineyard.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Kathy Marn of Franklin. Don and Kathy were married on May 1, 1976. He is also survived by his children, Donald Marn Jr. and his wife, Debbie, of Howard, Ohio, Michael Marn and his wife, Jutta, of Olympia, Wash., Margy Ark and her husband, Phil, of Mount Vernon, Ohio, Beth Kitchen and her husband, Ed, of London, Ohio, and Erich Marn and his wife, Jessica, of Essex; Nine grandchildren, Jared, Michele, Megan, Robin, Zach, Alex, Steph, Mandy and Jessica; and eight great grandsons.

A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 145 Square Road, Franklin with Rev. Roger Charbonneau celebrating the Mass of Christian burial. There will be no visiting hours.
