ST. ALBANS — Donald A. DesLauriers, Sr. a lifelong long resident of this area passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at the Franklin County Rehab with his loving family at his side.

Born in St. Albans, on Jan. 19, 1923, he was the son of the late Arthur ‘Pete’ and Beatrice (Spinard) DesLauriers. Donald was 93 years old.

On Aug. 30, 1943, in St. Albans, he married Betty Shepard, who survives him.

Donald was associated with IBM as a Design Engineer for 28 years. He also spent many years at the Railroad and R.L. Vallee. He was a longtime communicant of Holy Angels Parish, a 4th Degree Knight with St. Albans Council #297, a longtime member and ranger of Champlain Country Club and for many years served on the St. Albans City School Board and drove bus for the City School.

Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Betty, of St. Albans; their children, Pat Willis and her husband, Terry, of Fla., Donna Machia of OH, Donald ‘Peter’ and his wife, Martha, of St. Albans, Steven and his wife, Linda, of St. Albans, Tammy Sweet and her husband, Ron, of Milton, Mary Pelkey and her husband, Dean, of St. Albans, Joseph and his wife, Diane, of OH and Kim Perry of Ind., as well as 22 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Dick DesLauriers and his wife, Faith, of Fla., sisters-in-law, Sandy DesLauriers, Alma DesLauriers and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Donald was preceded in death by a son, Danny in 1959; great-grandson, Connor Roberts on June 17, 2014, and by several siblings.

Donald’s family will receive friends on Monday, Feb. 8, 2016, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Interment will be at a later date in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
