Developers explain Highgate solar plan

HIGHGATE — If approved, a proposed 20-megawatt solar project in Highgate would be the largest in the state. At Thursday night’s selectboard meeting, a representative of the developer, Ranger Solar, addressed concerns about the project’s impact on electric rates, property values and wildlife. Approximately 40 people attended the meeting, which was held at the Highgate Elementary School library to accommodate the crowd.

    Why would our politicians propose, pass and push a policy which results in higher electricity rates for our citizens? These solar farms and particularly the disgusting wind farms are a blight on our landscape and a disaster for our wallets. We need to fight these ridiculous ideas.
