FAIRFIELD — Cora Elizabeth (Wanzer) Tiffany, 83, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at home. She was born in Fairfield on Sept. 7, 1931, the daughter of Buell and Elizabeth (Plum) Wanzer.

Cora, known as Betty to many, graduated from Enosburg Falls High School in 1949 and from Johnson State Teachers College in 1953. In August of 1953, she married Silas Morris Tiffany, Jr. Together they purchased a farm of their own, and raised their family. Betty taught two years in Franklin, followed by 41 years in Fairfield. The Fairfield years were split among the St. Rocks School, Chester A. Arthur School, and Fairfield Central. Cora was devoted to her students and profession, and touched the lives of hundreds of children who grew up and lived in Fairfield. Her memory will live on in the lives and accomplishments of all of her students.

Betty was predeceased by her husband; her parents; and her brother, Dean Wanzer. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Tiffany Kenoyer (with her husband, David Kenoyer) from Plattsburgh, N.Y.; sons David, James, and Michael Tiffany (with his wife, Gabrielle Magnan Tiffany) from Fairfield; her grandchildren David Kenoyer (with his wife, Kim) of Cincinnati, Ohio, Brian Kenoyer (with his wife, Teresa, her son, Everest, and their son Joseph) of Hagerstown, Md., and Emmett, John, Michelle, Hannah, and Margaret Tiffany of Fairfield, along with her many friends.

The family would like to thank Cari Howrigan and Gloria Hughes for the compassionate, kind, loving care that they provided in Betty’s final years and days.

At Betty’s request, there will be no calling hours. A funeral service will be held at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans at 12 noon on Saturday, Feb. 21, followed by a reception at the Dairy Center in Enosburg Falls. Burial will take place in the spring in the Sheldon Village Cemetery in Sheldon, Vermont.

Because of the thoughtful care and hospice service they provided in her last days, donations may be made in Betty’s name to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vermont 05478. Messages of condolence to Cora’s family are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com.
