He was born Nov.11, 1982 in St. Albans, the son of Charles Powers and Penny Bailey.  He attended City School, BFA-St. Albans and graduated from MVU Class of 2000.  Chris worked for Lucille Farms in his younger years.  Chris was loyal to his New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys. He enjoyed collecting sports cards.  Chris enjoyed camping as a child. Those that were lucky enough to know Chris were able to experience his infectious smile, genuine friendship, and his honesty.

Survivors include his mom, Karen and her friend, Matt Austin, of Sheldon; his father Charles (Choo-Choo) and his wife, Courtney, and her children Carly and Hailey of St. Albans Town. Siblings: brother, Corey LaPlant, and his dad Darrell Laplant of St. Albans Town who was a supportive stepfather of Chris for many years; sisters Jenna Austin and Penny Powers of St. Albans. He leaves a niece, Lexi Powers Lewis of Swanton and Alexzander Wilcox of Johnson as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Chris was predeceased by his maternal grandmother Penny Bailey, his paternal grandparents Marion and Charles Powers, his aunt Penny Jean Powers, and his nephew Jason Powers who Chris missed and loved dearly.  Chris also leaves many caregivers who became friends to Chris over the years. A special thanks to Mike Firkey for his tireless cooking, cleaning and understanding to Chris through the years and to Zach Robtoy who stopped in nearly every night to see Chris. Chris had countless other friends from NCSS who also supported him to “live the way he wanted.”

There will be a memorial gathering for friends and family to celebrate Chris’ life on June 19, 2015, at the St. Albans Elks Lodge from 1 to 5 p.m.  For those who wish, contributions in Chris’ name may be made to the Franklin County Human Society.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Brady and Levesque Funeral Home.
