ST. ALBANS – Charles H.E. Strait, “Bud”, passed on May 5, 2015, following a brief illness.  Charles was born April 26, 1923, in St. Albans, son of Edwin and Eunice (Leach) Strait. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. His wife, Charlotte Torrey (Dewart) Strait predeceased him on Aug. 28, 1998. He was also predeceased by his four sisters: Helen Derby, Alma Jackson, Charlene Kinney, and Alberta Beebe.

Charles is survived by his son, Chester E. Strait and his wife, Dr. Patricia B. Strait, of Virginia Beach, Va.; his daughter Margaret Jean Strait and her family: Christopher Matthew Bedell of Williston, Justin Strait Bedell and his wife, Dr. Claudine P. Bedell, and their children Hannah, Sam, and Maxim of Alburgh.

There will be no calling hours. The burial will take place in a private ceremony at the Torrey Cemetery in Georgia, Vt.  The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford for five years of excellent and compassionate care as well as the nursing staff at Northwest Medical Center for their outstanding care, compassion, and attention to Charles in his final hours.
