ST. ALBANS — Catherine R. Earle, 89, passed away on Thursday evening, May 7, 2015 at her residence at Harborview.

Mrs. Earle was born on Dec. 10, 1925 in St. Albans, the daughter of Arthur Garfield and Mabel Bliss (Newton) Reynolds.  She grew up in Georgia and was a 1943 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and a 1944 graduate of Becker Junior College.  On Dec. 28, 1951, she married Norman J. Earle who predeceased her in 1984.

Mrs. Earle had been employed by the Vermont Employment Service, Canadian National Railroad and the US Immigration Service. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, NARFE, Northwestern Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and the Autonoe Club.  Mrs. Earle especially enjoyed cribbage, flower gardening, visiting and photographing all of Vermont’s covered bridges and spending winters in Florida on Anna Maria Island.

Surviving are Mrs. Earle’s children; Gail Ewell (Jack), Marilyn Bisson (Leo) and Jason Earle (Bird); grandsons, Benjamin Ewell (Erin), Zachary Ewell, Kevin Ewell (Alice) and Sean Bovia; sisters-in-law Patricia Earle and Natalie Earle Wilson; step-grandson, Jae Lamb.  Catherine was delighted with the birth of her great-granddaughter, Catherine Maddon Ewell on Nov. 5, 2014.

In addition to her husband, Norman, and her parents, Catherine was predeceased by a daughter Janet Earle Bovia (David) in 2011 and her siblings, Eldon, Jack, Seth, Priscilla and Max Reynolds, Eva (Wright) and Arthella “Tillie” (Wood).

Memorial Services for Mrs. Earle will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 11 Church St, St. Albans with the Rev. Megan Stowe officiating.  Following the service friends are invited to join Catherine’s family in the Church fellowship hall for a time of sharing.  Interment will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans.  Friends are invited to call at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St. in St. Albans on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m.
