An ice delivery wagon, seen near the corner of North Main with the intersection of Lake Street behind it, carries ice up Fairfield Street, most probably to the Fisher Pond icehouse. The ice was harvested on St. Albans Bay and transported into the city on the trolley tracks of the St. Albans Streetcar Co. These photographs predate 1927 when the company closed and the lines were removed. Since there are no automobiles in the photo they probably were taken in the very early 1900s. Fisher Pond, the site of the icehouse, was filled in for construction of Interstate 89 in the late 1960s. It was located in the area beneath but south of the Route 105 interstate overpass in St. Albans Town.
