SWANTON — The Liturgy of Christian Burial was concelebrated Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Thomas D. Nadeau, pastor of Saint Mark’s Roman Catholic Parish was the principle celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating priests were The Very Reverend Michael P. Cronogue, SSE Superior General of the Society of Saint Edmund, Father Marcel R. Rainville, SSE from the Office of Campus Ministry at Saint Michael’s College, Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE Director of Campus Ministry at Saint Michael’s College and Spiritual Director of Saint Anne’s Shrine and family friend Father Leonidas B. Laroche. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois Deacon assigned to Holy Angels Parish in Saint Albans. Joseph Gamache and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by the Nativity Church Adult Choir under the direction of Mrs. Janet Maguire accompanied by Vern Colburn.

The White Funeral Pall was draped over Brandon’s casket by his parents Don and Gerri Cobb. Brandon’s brother Christopher Cobb then placed the Crucifix. Scripture Reading from The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Douglas Austin and Jennifer Ploof. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Tyler and Ashley Arel, Christopher Cobb and Malachi Orr.

Among the many delegations in attendance were representatives from, Cobb Auto, Rocheleau Realty, Flowers by Debbie, Dan Hazard Construction, Kevin Smith’s Sports Connection, Barrette Ford Sales and Service, Franklin Northwest Supervisory Union Office of the Superintendant of Schools, Missisquoi Valley Union High School including the Class of 2003, Bellows Free Academy-Saint Albans, Northwest Technical Center, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Central Schools, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Champlain Housing Trust, Local Avon Representatives, Ashley Furniture Home Store, Maple City Candy, Peoples Trust Company, Shelburne Police Department led by Chief James Warden, University Of Vermont, Branon’s Pools, The Handy Group, The Paquin Group, Franklin County Home Health Agency Grand Avenue Enterprises, M & T Sand and Gravel, Vermont Right To Life, Saint Albans Cooperative Creamery, The Thai House Restaurant, Tuttle’s Trucking, Acadia Auto Auctions, Williams College Women’s Hockey, U-Haul, S.B. Collins, Jolly Associates,  Swanton Rexall, Wood and Kidder, Inc.,  Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Vermont Department of Education, Swanton Community Food Shelf, Knights of Columbus Saint Edmund of Canterbury Council 7668 and Fourth Degree Assembly 2208 and the parish community of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary / Saint Louis including the Parish Council, Finance Committee, Religious Education Department, Liturgy Commission, Cemetery Commission, Ladies of Saint Anne and Altar Society.

The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Cobb family lot in Saint Mary’s Cemetery with Father Nadeau assisted by Fathers Cronogue and Rainville reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Christopher Cobb, Malachi Orr, Chad Arel, Tyler Arel, Bill Mercier, Ryan Gouvin, Jeremy Danyow and Arthur Kougias.

Following The Prayers of Committal a reception was held for family and friends at the Nativity Parish Center catered by Dee’s Catering.

Following the service a reception was held for family and friends at the My-T-Fine Restaurant in Highgate Springs hosted by Nancy Paquette and staff.
