ST. ALBANS — Approximately 5,000 people made their way to the Collins-Perley Sports & Fitness Center for the Rotary Home and Recreation Expo.
“We had a great weekend,” said Carrie Johnson, who co-chaired the expo organizing committee with Meghan Manahan. “We’re calling it a huge success.”
The amount of money raised by the expo won’t be known for four to six weeks as donations and bills are still arriving.
Each year Rotary holds a fundraising raffle in conjunction with the expo. Nina and Craig White, of Swanton, won this year’s grand prize, a $2,500 Hannaford gift certificate. The Whites are longtime volunteers for the Rotary ski bus, which brings local youth to ski areas.
Other raffle winners were Remington Andrews, who won a $300 gift card to Jolley gas stations, and Dan Vanslette and Tim Trotocheud, who both won $100 gift cards to Jolley car washes.
The silent auction was also a success, said Johnson.
The expo is the primary fundraiser for Rotary of St. Albans, which uses the funds to support charitable efforts around the area, including the restoration of the Taylor Park fountain, Martha’s Kitchen and Hannaford’s annual Helping Hands food drive.
