ST. ALBANS — A Swanton man has been cited for negligent operation of a motor vehicle after crashing an all-terrain-vehicle (ATV) into a car exiting Burger King last night.

St. Albans Police Department responded to the Route 7-North crash at 9:51 p.m.. Following an investigation, police determined the ATV was driven by Robert Kneebone, 22, and that he had ridden on Interstate 89 southbound from Swanton just prior to the collision.

Police also learned Kneebone was driving the ATV above the posted speed limit before crashing into a car leaving Burger King and driven by Daniel Nadeau-Gerlach, 22, of North Hero.

Kneebone was transported to Northwestern Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries by AmCare Ambulance. According to an NMC spokesperson, he was released at 1:25 a.m. today.

Police determined through their investigation that alcohol and speed were contributing factors in the crash. In addition to his one citation, police said Kneebone could be cited on additional charges.
