SWANTON – Arthur Gaylon Davis, age 81 years, died early Monday morning, July 8, 2013, in the Northwestern Medical Center with loving family at his side.
Born in Johnson on July 29, 1931, he was the son of the late Gaylon Perkins Davis and Evelyn (Sanborn) Davis. He was raised on a dairy farm, attended Johnson schools and for several years worked various jobs. He will be best remembered for the nearly 30 years that he served as a Park Ranger for the State of Vermont Division of Forests and Parks.
Arthur faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Era and was a member the American Legion, Post #12 in Richford. He was also a longtime member of the Waterman Lodge, #83, F&AM.
He leaves his son, Arthur Davis Jr. and his wife, Diane of Franklin; his daughter, Evelyn Menard and her husband, Michael of Swanton; four grandchildren Tina Pelletier and her husband, John, Melissa Davis and partner, Paul Rainville, Heather Davis and partner, Joshua Poirier and Michael Menard; four great grandchildren Brenden and McKenna Pelletier, Arthur Jeffrey Dennett and his father, Jacy Dennett and Owen Davis-Tinker; two brothers Gordon Davis and Wilmer Davis and wife, Carol, all of Johnson; a sister-in-law, Claudette Davis of Johnson as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Warren Davis, on Feb. 8 of this year.
A Funeral service will be held Friday, July 12, 2013, at 3 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Jason McConnell, pastor of the Franklin United Church will officiate. Military Honors will immediately follow.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
