ST. ALBANS — Mr. Albert Louis Lareau, age 91, died Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the St. Albans Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in St. Albans on Nov. 12, 1924, son of the late Hector and Alice (Lanoue) Lareau.

Albert served his country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. On June 12, 1945, Albert married Aline Oligny. Aline died June 30, 1995. Albert worked for the Central Vermont Railway, Wirthmore Feeds, and the Fonda Group. He later owned and operated Lareau Contracting. Albert also served many years as a school bus driver for the St. Albans City School. He was a life member of the American Legion Post #1, The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #758, and a past member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Lodge 1566.

Albert is survived by his children, Cheryl Sweet and her husband, Mickey, of St. Albans; his son, Stephen Lareau, and his wife, Linda, of St. Albans; his grandchildren, Scott Lareau, Brandie Cowan and Stephenie Bourgeois; his great-grandchildren, Danielle, Kellie, Luke and Lindsey; a sister, Rachel Lareau of Tampa, Fla.; a brother, Henry Lareau of Anchorage, Alaska and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Aline, he was predeceased by his sister, Germaine, his brothers, Roland, Leo, John and Andrew.
