Longway - Wilson

    FAIRFIELD - Jessica Ann Longway, daughter of Geraldine F. Longway of Fairfield & Edward Longway of St. Albans, and David Charles Wilson, son of Beverly Cook of St. Albans & Mitchell Wilson of Ontario, Canada, were united in marriage on Aug. 25, 2007, at 3 p.m.
    The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Leonidas Laroche at St. Patrick Church in Fairfield, and was followed by a reception at the Hampton Inn in Colchester.
    The maid of honor was Sarah Longway, sister of the bride. The bridesmaids were Julie Bittner, Miranda White, and Carrie Tatro, friends of the bride. The flower girl was Angelina Tricebock, and the ring bearer was Madeline Tricebock, cousins of the bride.
    The best man was Steven Powers, friend of the groom. The groomsmen were Jason Longway, brother of the bride, Robert Tatro III, and William White, friends of the groom.
    Readings were provided by Lucy Falivene, aunt of the bride, and Eric Jarvis, cousin of the bride.
    The bride is a 2000 graduate of Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans, and a 2004 graduate of Johnson State College. She is currently employed at Northwestern Medical Center, Rehab Department and Mullen Insurance Agency.
    The groom is currently a self-employed carpenter of his own business, CIC Carpentry.
    The couple honeymooned in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They have made their home in Bakersfield in a house that David built.




McNall 50th Anniversary

    Ralph and Patricia (Alderman) McNall celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct. 5, 2007, at The Abbey Restaurant in Sheldon with approximately 160 family and friends. The celebration was hosted by their children and grandchildren. Lucinda (Cindy) McNall and Wright Preston, daughters Devon and Julia of Richmond, Vt., Michael and Cheryl McNall and children Mitchell, Maggie and Jackson of Tampa, Fla., Glenn and Karen McNall sons Maxx and Mark of Fairfax, Vt., James and Amy McNall daughters Lindsay and Jennifer of Colchester, Vt., David and Rebecca McNall children Morgan, Mckenzie and Michael of Fairfax, Vt.
    There was a short program emceed by family friend Leon Graves, oldest grandson Maxx gave the invocation, son Michael then gave a toast, Pat introduced the family, and a buffet dinner followed.
    The program resumed with a short slideshow of young and old memories, assembled by Cindy Preston and Karen McNall, poems by granddaughters, Lindsay, Devon, Maggie, Jennifer, and Morgan were recited; a special album with a page of memories from each grandchild was presented to Ralph and Pat by granddaughters Julia, Jennifer, Morgan and Mckenzie . Remarks by Cindy Preston, Leon Berthiaume, Harold Howrigan, Edgar King, David Underwood and Ralph McNall concluded the program.
    Ralph and Pat were married by the Reverend Edwin Burke on Oct. 12, 1957, in the United Church of Fairfax. They have made their home in Fairfax the entire 50 years. Ralph, as a dairy farmer, kept busy being involved in many dairy related boards locally and nationally. Pat was a stay at home mom until she decided to get involved in town politics about 12 years ago when she ran for Town Lister and has held that position ever since. They haven't at this point set a date to retire.




Jarvis 50th Anniversary
 
    Reginald and Lorna (Bullock) Jarvis celebrated their 50th anniversary on Friday, Oct. 12, 2007.  
    Their children surprised them with a fall foliage airplane tour piloted by their grandson, Ryan Jarvis.  
    They were then treated to a dinner party at the Fire & Ice Restaurant in Middlebury.




Benoit - Clair

    VERGENNES - Dennis Benoit of Addison is proud to announce the engagement of his daughter, Maria Benoit, to Christopher Clair, the son of Robert and the late Rhonda Clair of Enosburg.
    The future bride graduated from Vergennes Union High School and Castleton State College. She is employed as a receptionist at the Vergennes Animal Hospital.
    The future groom graduated from Middlebury Union High School. He is employed at Connor Homes.
    A fall 2009 wedding is planned.




LeGrand 50th Anniversary

    ST. ALBANS - Donald and Janet LeGrand celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at a surprise party at the Doubletree Hotel on Oct. 13, 2007.
    They were married on Oct. 12, 1957, in St. Thomas Catholic Church in Underhill Center, Vt. by Rev. Gavin Maloney.
    The party was hosted by their five children: Paul of Johnson, Donna of Essex, Peter of Los Angeles, Lisa of Bakersfield, and Andrew of Barre.
    A large group of family and friends attended the dinner/dance affair. Daughter Donna made the three-tiered anniversary cake.
    Mrs. LeGrand was a homemaker and a special education paraeducator for many years. Mr. LeGrand retired from IBM. Both of them volunteer at Northwestern Medical Center.




Jewett Reunion Held

    The 52nd annual Jewett Reunion was held Sunday, Sept. 2, at Sheila Jewett Dragoon's in Berkshire with 80 attending.
    The meeting was called to order by Sheila Jewett Dragoon (President) and Gary Jewett (Vice President) with the Lord's Prayer and a moment of silence.
    Kathryn King gave her report (Secretary/Treasurer). Sheila, Gary and Kathryn presented prizes as follows: Oldest man - Arlin Jewett, 88, born April 19, 1919; Oldest woman - Beaulah Messier, 90, born Aug. 2, 1917; Youngest boy - Colin Hardy, 4; Youngest girl - Kaitlyn Jewett, 2; Farthest away - Larry Jewett, Ocklawaha, Fla., and Bobbi Adams, Alvarado, Texas; Largest family - Beaulah Messier, with 15 members present; 19 door prizes were given out.
    Relatives came from Florida, Texas, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Connecticut and Vermont.
    Children's games were played, overseen by Gail Hardy.
    Horse drawn wagon rides were given by Sherm and Tyler Jewett.
