Montgomery - Backus

    SHELDON SPRINGS - Katie Ellen Montgomery, daughter of Robert & Gale Montgomery of Sheldon, and Michael Joseph Backus, son of Lawrence & Kathleen Backus of Lancaster, N.Y., were united in marriage on Sept. 29, 2007.
    Father Bernard Bechard officiated at the double ring ceremony at St. Anthony’s Church in Sheldon Springs. Traditional wedding music was performed by Claire Hungerford.  The Old Testament reading was read by Irene Montgomery, grandmother of the bride.  The Responsorial Psalm and New Testament readings were read by Kevin and Phyllis Baer, godparents of the groom.  The offertory gifts were presented by Michael and Kathleen Gingras, godparents of the bride.
    Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a white satin strapless A-line gown with a beaded bodice.  She carried a bouquet of Calla lilies, roses, and hydrangeas accented with fall leaves.
    The Maid of Honor was Erin O’Driscoll, friend of the bride.  Bridesmaids were Kimberly Hoffman, Holly King, Deanna St. Onge, friends of the bride; and Denise Montgomery, sister-in-law of the bride.  They wore identical black, tea length satin dresses and carried a bouquet similar to the bride.
    The Best Man was Matthew Backus, brother of the groom. The Groomsmen were Chad Conrad, Ryan Corcoran, Nathan Stebbins, Michael Walker, friends of the groom; and Kevin Montgomery, brother of the bride.
    A reception was held at the American Legion Hall in St. Albans following the ceremony.  The Abbey catered the dinner.  The music was provided by Bruce Russell, Life of the Party.  Following the reception, the couple left for their honeymoon in Las Vegas, Nev.
    The bride is a 2000 graduate of Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans, and a 2004 graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y. with an Aeronautical and Mechanical degree in Engineering.  She is employed at National Grid in Syracuse, N.Y. as a Mechanical Engineer.  
    The groom is a 2000 graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute in Kenmore, N.Y. and a 2004 graduate of Clarkson University, Potsdam, N.Y. with and Electrical Engineering degree.  He is employed at National Grid in Syracuse, N.Y. as an Electrical Engineer.  
    The couple resides in Baldwinsville, N.Y.





Gagner

    Madison Elizabeth Gagner announces the renewal of her parent’s wedding vows, Steven and Nicole, on Oct. 20, 2007, at Holy Angels Church. The couple was originally married on Oct. 29, 2004, before Steve headed to Iraq.
    The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Daniel Lokanga and Deacon Duane Langlois. A reception followed at the Elks Club in St. Albans.
    The readings were done by Aaron Kennison (brother of the bride) and Andrea Blaney (sister of the groom).  The violin was played by Ms. Eve Boltax. The Arc of Swords was by the Norwich University Regimental Drill Team.
    The Maid of Honor was Melissa Robtoy (friend of the bride). The Bridesmaids were Hollee Kennison (the bride’s sister), Sara Gagner (the groom’s cousin), Shea Morgan, Erin Charron, and Natalya Maybo (friends of the bride). The junior bridesmaid was Courtney Blaney (the groom’s niece). The flower girl was Madison Gagner, the couple’s daughter.
    The Best Man was Gaston Gagner (the groom’s father). The Groomsmen were Patrick Gagner (the groom’s brother), Matthew Kehaya, Gregory Holland, Jordan Ostrander, and Joseph Colantoris (friends of the groom). The junior groomsmen were Mitchell Blaney and Gage Gagner (the groom’s nephews).
    The bride graduated from BFA-St. Albans and Johnson State College. The groom graduated from MVU and Norwich University. The groom is a 1st Lt. with the Vermont National Guard.
    The couple took a Caribbean cruise at the end of November. They have a home in Swanton, Vt.
