The Jig is up

EAST FAIRFIELD — A quarter-century in, the Jig in the Valley — once just a local band playing out the back of a flatbed truck — drew its largest-ever crowd. Nance Shaw, one of the festival’s organizers, said the 25th annual Jig in the Valley drew around 450-475 people. That’s a record. Prior Jigs have drawn 300-400 attendees.   St. Albans – Eva Marie LaBelle, 82, a master gardener and a resident of St. Albans since 1967, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at her home. Born in Berlin, Germany on Jan. 23, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Herta (Broscheit) Scheid. Eva was raised and educated in Germany where she met the lover of her life, Richard E. ST. ALBANS — Christine (Chrysostomi Mazarakis) Scangas, 83 of St. Albans, Vermont, loving wife of Nicholas Scangas, died peacefully at her home with her family at her side. Christine was born on Jan. 23, 1934, raised and educated on the island of Ithaca, Greece. She was the daughter of the late Gregory and Barbara (Levendes) Mazarakis.
